Scius was hired by BC Housing to summarize progress towards achieving the vision and ambitions of a pioneering strategy for construction innovation in BC that began in 2015.

The original report was published by the BC Construction Association, with support from BC Housing, and drew on insights gathered from a three-month consultation process with 450 industry members from across British Columbia and underpinned by eight months of research.

It makes the case that engaging pro-actively with innovation can have a positive impact on business and their ability to succeed. The report also outlines the key challenges facing the industry and the need for a made-in-BC construction innovation plan that can act as a model for the rest of the country. As Canadian governments turn towards the construction indsutry to address housing shortages and infrastructure deficits, this work has served as a foundational reference for what is needed in terms of investment, policy reform and skills development.

The progress update documents accomplishements in the interceding 5 years and sets out a framework for ongoing investment in R&D.

The BC cosntruction innovation project as a whole - the strategy, the industry engagement process and the collaboration between the BC Construction Association and BC Housing - was recognized by Clean50 as a Top Project in Canada.
